3D Modelling and Drawings

"Simple" jobs

Expected cost: A$20 Currently Free

Examples:

  • 3D modelling of simple geometrical objects with no engineering requirements expected to take a designer under an hour to make.
  • A single engineering drawing for an existing model.
  • Simple changes to existing models such as adding text or emboss, or changing dimensions.

"Moderately complex" jobs

Expected cost: A$50 to A$100

Examples:

  • 3D modelling of geometrically complex objects that would take a designer up to 3 hours to make.
  • Engineering drawings of assemblies composed of multiple components.
  • A complete design and drawing of a moderately complex component.
  • Major design changes to a model.

"Complex" jobs

Expected cost: A$110 to A$250

Examples:

  • 3D modelling of very complex objects requiring a designer up to a full day to create. These are unique objects that require in-depth knowledge of CAD and modelling to create efficiently.
  • Design of components which require engineering simulation and verification.
  • Components with moving parts or other complexity which require extensive testing and 3D printing to verify the design for.

"Very complex and long" jobs

Expected cost: A$300+

  • For larger projects requiring the design of many complex components with strict engineering requirements, use our quote form to provide details and get an exact cost.

3D Printing

The cost of our 3D printing services will depend on the filament type, amount of filament used, printing time, processing time and any perceived printing complexity.

Filament use charged per 100g for each filament type is as follows:

 Filament type Cost per 100g
PLA, PLA+ A$4
PETG A$4.5
ABS/ASA A$5
TPU A$5.5
Nylon A$8

Printing time is charged at $5 per hour.

Processing time includes preparing the print job and post-processing - both are charged at between A$35 to A$50 per hour. Preparing includes changes to the model needed for better printing and slicing, and would be expected to take between 5 and 30 mins. Post-processing involves removal of supports and assembly if required, and would also take between 5 and 30 mins.

A complexity factor is used for models which are considered harder to print at high quality without failures or defects.

For example, printing the classic "Benchy" in PLA would take 46 mins and 11.57g to print on our standard 3D printer. There would be only 5 mins expected of total processing time and no complexity factor. This results in a 3D printed"Benchy" price of A$7.21 before any shipping costs.

Pay $7.21 to print a Benchy and check the calibration of one of our printers :P.
